Buying your first home is a big decision. Antonette has helped many first-time buyers in the Antelope Valley and will walk you through every step, from your first conversation with a lender to getting your keys.
- Talk with a lender and get pre-approved. A pre-approval shows what you can borrow and makes your offer stronger. Antonette can introduce you to local mortgage professionals.
- Ask about assistance programs. Down payment and closing cost assistance programs, such as those offered through CalHFA, may be available. Eligibility, income limits and terms vary, so your lender can tell you what you qualify for.
- Set your search. Decide on your must-haves: location, bedrooms, lot size and commute. Then search homes and save searches to get new listings by email.
- Tour homes and compare. Antonette will help you compare neighborhoods, pricing and condition so you know what a fair offer looks like.
- Make an offer and negotiate. She will prepare a competitive offer and negotiate terms on your behalf.
- Inspections, appraisal and escrow. Antonette coordinates with inspectors, title and escrow companies and your lender to keep everything on schedule.
- Close and get your keys. Sign your final documents and move in.
Common first-time buyer questions
How much do I need for a down payment? It depends on the loan program. Some programs allow low down payments and some eligible buyers may qualify for assistance. Your lender will give you exact numbers.
How long does it take? Escrow is often around 30 to 45 days once an offer is accepted, but timelines vary by loan type and transaction.
